IKR! She wasn’t an ~amazing mum by any stretch, espesh to people who think mums are strictly meant for baking cakes and doing the washing with no complaints. But she went thru so much and you’re so right: she did have v difficult kids — who actually resemble her a great deal (mostly effy). I still stand by my claim that the very best scene of s4 was those 5 seconds when Anthea sees Effy’s collage. There was so much in Anthea’s character in all the series (and Morwenna’s acting!) that I feel gets overlooked… Mostly cos apparently it’s lame to like adults and be grown up. *sigh*

I dunno, I thought there were a lot of scenes that displayed exactly how much Anthea loved her kids, including the scene that the anon complained about and a lot of the breakdowns she has. these skins kids don’t live in a vacuum, and back when Skins was on its game, their issues and problems were either reflected in their parents, or directly (often deeply) influenced and affected their parents — like real life. There were reasons for including parents in the episodes. And to just turn around and call Anthea a bitch just cos she’s an imperfect woman and anon couldn’t be bothered to actually ~think about why she responded in such a way… It’s a shame. Anon certainly must be missing a huge chunk of Skins’ greatness.

I’m so glad there are people like you who aren’t aboard this “adults are all dumb pointless and evil!!” boat in skins fandom. :) xx
