Umm. Ceffy fans aren’t Cook and Effy; just cos some ceffy fans say stupid things doesn’t actually reflect the characters themselves. A lot of Freffy fans say really dumb shit too but that isn’t a reason that I dislike Freffy; I loathe it because of what it says about the characters and the scary picture it presents re: “love”. The things Freffies say just make my head hurt or make my heart sad or make my brain scared for the well-being of our society’s future but they do not influence my opinion on the ship or characters themselves. Just like I don’t understand how Ceffies being rude or sick about Freddie’s death really has anything to do with anything in boleyns’ post re: 4.05. Hers was very source material-based, not a commentary on fandom.

And tbh, I think generally we all recognise that Cook, Effy and Freddie all fucked up, and so did the writers. Majorly. I’m fairly certain most Ceffies realise that Cook and Effy weren’t flawless, in fact in my case, as someone who prefers Ceffy, I consider Cook/Effy the lesser of two evils. My bottom line is that Effy shouldn’t be with either of them if she wants to be healthy, only then should she consider a romance. But I’m not a hardcore Ceffy. The reason Ceffies don’t talk about the failings of their ship is cos, well, how often do you see people talk shit about their ships? It’s not exactly something shippers brag about on the whole, ya know? But it doesn’t mean they haven’t considered the flaws. As a Freffy you probably don’t spend too much time talking openly about how you think your ship is flawed, do you? ;)

I do agree tho that series four should have focussed on repairing the Freddie.Cook friendship, but quite honestly the only people to blame for that are the writers and producers, not the characters or fans of the alternate ship. Its the writers that wrote Freddie into a total corner development-wise (again, boleyns post covers this). And Effy for that matter as well. And you’re right, the love triangle was shit. Just terribly done. And I can say with some degree of certainty that many Ceffies and Freffies would agree on that. :)
